Ghodaghodi Lake

According to Wikipedia, Ghodaghodi Tal is a Ramsar site in western Nepal. Established in August 2003 it covers an area of 2,563 ha (6,330 acres) in Kailali District at an altitude of 205 m (673 ft) on the lower slopes of the Siwalik Hills.This Ramsar site consists of a system of around 13 large and shallow oxbow lakes and ponds with associated marshes and meadows. It is surrounded by tropical deciduous forest and some streams along the periphery, which are separated by hillocks.

Ghodaghodi Lake is one of the famous historical place.The fresh water lake among many of the lakes found in Nepal is GhodaGhodi lake. It is found in Western region of Nepal. It was established in August 2003 which covers an area of 6,330 acres in Kailali district. It falls in Seti zone of Nepal. Ghodaghodi area is covered with dense forest and lake. Different kind of species of bird and animalso are found in there covered forest. And also various kind of aquatic species are found in lake of Ghodaghodi. It is surrounded by tropical deciduous forest and some streams along the periphery, which are separated by hillocks.Now it comes in the World Heritage List.

The lake is fed by direct precipitation throughout the monsoon season and by surface flows from the watershed space, spring water springs and little streams. Water depth varies from 1-4 m. Secchi depth transparency and high phoshor level indicates the lake as hypertrophic, the chemical element level as eutrophic, and low chlorophyl “A” level (due to made growth of macrophytes) as oligo to mesotrophic. Dissolved oxygen is low with a minimum of 3-5 mg/l.
